The Second All-Russian sociological
congress "The Russian society and sociology in XXI century: social challenges and alternatives" took place in Moscow
from September, 30 till October, 2, 2003.
At the solemn opening of
the Congress. Dean of sociological faculty of the Moscow State University Professor Dobrenkov V.I. noted the necessity of the prompt consolidation
of all sociologists, sociological societies and
branches of Russia in Russian sociological associations (RuSA).
These ideas were shared by 45 regions
which delegated representatives to conduct constituent congress of Russian
sociological associations (RuSA). Congress was held on October, 2. Dobrenkov
V.I. was unanimously elected as the president of association. The Presidium
of RSA included heads of sociological institutes of the
Russian Academy of Science, a number of well-known Russian sociologists and deans of sociological
faculties. Seven existing sociological professional associations were suggested to enter
RuSA as the associated members.
In December the Russian sociological association was registered
by Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
In 2003-2004 35 research committees and one special research
group were organized, two new regional departments were accepted as members
of Russian Sociological Association (RuSA).
